Augustine Casino

Preferred Employer

With the development and opening of Augustine Casino in 2002, the Tribe became a preferred employer. The opening brought stability, safety and prosperity to the area, creating revenue and well-being. In fact, the Tribe has developed a profitable enterprise that pays some $15 million a year in compensation, and includes value-added benefits such as health insurance, a 401(k), multiple weeks of paid time off, and financial security.

What is most important is that we commit our financial resources to sustain our operations and team members. As such, both our tribal offices and administrative offices, much like our leaders, remain budget-conscious and low-key.

Renovating the casino. Raising the bar.

In 2016, the Tribe undertook a massive renovation of the Augustine Casino property temporarily closing to expedite the project. Not only did the casino re-open on time, it still surpassed its 2016 budget goals. This project has been a boost to the casino’s business on every level.

The much-needed multimillion dollar renovation, both inside and out, was completed during September and October of 2016. While the casino closure represented some relative uncertainty, the unique strategy paid off. Rather than leaving the casino open and facing five months of construction disruption, the team expedited the work to finish in a record 25 days, five days ahead of schedule.

Further, we were able to minimize the impact on our team members. We advised them months in advance to accrue paid time off (PTO) through the brief transition, with the result that most were able to maintain their paychecks and return highly energized after some three weeks off. They were excited and ready to further elevate the guest experience in our beautiful new facility.
